Machine pieced. Thirty-three pieces. I used the rotary cutting instructions from the Dear Jane CD. I started with the 9-patch in the center, and added sashing from there. This was an easy block to machine piece, and I am glad that I did.
A big part of the fun of piecing by hand is making blocks that are difficult or close-to-impossible to piece by machine. Curved seams, inset corners, applique, etc. So I get a lot of satisfaction from making a block like E-8 by machine, because I can do a different kind of sewing, and still have that “Ah, it’s done!” feeling when a block is completed.

Wow! This is what you’ve been working on? I am soooo impressed! I’ve been machine piecing and having all the problems you’ve described…hand piecing huh? I’ll have to think about that!
