Machine pieced.  Nineteen pieces.  Whenever I look at this fabric, I think of coffee beans.  This was another easy one to put together, using my handy pile of 1″ strips and 2″ squares of background.  Other blocks that can be made from 1″ strips (or squares) of print and background, and 2″ squares of background:

  • C-12 Family Reunion
  • J-6 Granny Weaver  (this one uses 2″ squares of print)
  • J-7 Chicken Tracks
  • M-12  Hopscotch
  • M-10 Simple Simon (also uses 2″ squares of print)

Also, K-2 Grandpa’s Chickens comes close.  It can be made by sewing together two long strips of 1 1/8″ wide background and print, then cutting apart into eighteen pieces, and sewing together according to the block.

Love your blocks and am simply amazed at the quality and volume that you produce. Not to mention your cross-stitch…I did notice that you have been machine piecing. Do you find that as satisfying as hand piecing? I myself prefer to machine piece, but love to quilt and applique by hand. Just curious.
