Do you make yours in an ordinary pan?
It’s funny how you often blog about things that are on my mind as well. Like tamagoyaki – which I happened to make last week, too. We don’t have it often as I had been the only one who liked it. But now suddenly we are two and I decided I had to work on the shape of mine… always look slightly distressed and eating them takes some efforts because all falls apart. I think I wait too long with the rolling part. And I thought maybe the proper pan would be helpful?
Oh, and that dish is lovely!
Oh yum, that does take me back.. A friend used to make it for me, when we shared rooms back in my university days. Never have been able to make it myself – it always just ended up a muddle…
Yes, the proper pan is a big help! I got a T-Fal one. The first tamagoyaki I ever made turned out beautifully. Then everyone started telling me how hard it was to make, how it always fell apart, stuck to the pan, etc. and I think I psyched myself out. My tamagoyaki since then have never turned out quite as perfect as that first one.
Okay, then a pan will be on my list today… thanks for the tip, Jennifer!
And just because I spotted your top posts right now: Imagine, I recently met a Yoko Saito who doesn’t know Yoko Saito and doesn’t patchwork either :)
