I don’t know why this is, but I enjoy cross stitching for Christmas more than any other time of year. Maybe it is because there is a certain thrill to pulling out the stockings I spent years (!!) making, knowing that they will be displayed just for the month of December. Unlike other pieces that get lost to my eyes as they are displayed year-round, the handmade things I spend quite a bit of time on for Christmas truly warm my heart.
As does this little Santa, complete with silver star.

I agree – I used to cross stitch a lot now I only do it for Christmas – cards and decorations – I got my Just CrossStitch Christmas Ornaments magazine and started my first decoration last night.
I like your little Father Christmas though!!

I feel the same about the crafts I do for the holidays like Christmas and Easter. I think it adds to the excitement about those days when you unwrap the sewn or embroidered decor and put it on display for just a short period of time. It is nice that they become more and more precious over the years. Some day it all will belong to the family heirloom, made my grandma Jennifer who knew her way with all that crafty stuff… :)
